In 1945, for the first time Omega submitted two chronometer wristwatches to the Geneve Observatory for its renowned annual timing competition, a global contest for fine Swiss firms to showcase their watchmaking abilities. First place honors were not won by a Patek Philippe and Rolex, but by an Omega chronometer.
Over the next several years, these chronometers with their special, award-winning Caliber 30 T2 RG movements, would go on to win numerous awards, break long-standing timing records, outperform tourbillions, and forever earn their place in history.
The fine and uncommon Omega featured in today's offering is an example of chronometer watch with one of these 30 T2 RG movements.
The full size Omega case, about the diameter of a Rolex Datejust, is in very good condition. The two-tone silver dial has been previously well-restored. The original, Caliber 30 T2 RG movement is clean and running true.
Our watchmaker has freshly cleaned and oiled the movement and installed a brand new Omega pallet fork. We have also equipped the watch with a new crocodile band making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
