Today's offering showcases this very fine, elegant, and classic LeCoultre watch equipped with stunning guilloche dial and JLC's very fine first automatic movement.
Besides the thick solid gold case and fine movement, the hand-crafted guilloche dial adds to the watch's impressiveness. Showcasing an exquisite wave pattern, it has striking light-shifting effect as light hits it at different angles. It adds a touch of drama and individuality to the wristwatch, giving it its own identity as an object of fine art.
Powering the watch is a caliber 476/2 movement. At the end of the Second World War, the mood was geared towards reconstruction, efficiency and pragmatism. Jaeger-LeCoultre turned its inventive genius to the area of automatic round timepieces, the first forerunners of the many generations that followed that would eventually become the Master Control line. The company's first automatic watch housed a Jaeger-LeCoultre 476 caliber mechanism like this driven by a 'bumper' weight.
So advanced was the movement it was adapted by Vacheron & Constantin for use in early automatics of theirs (see comparative photo below).
While almost all of JLC's U.S. market offerings in gold were housed in 14K cases, the company used 18K gold for this case, attesting to it's top-line status within their U.S. watches.
Our watchmaker has freshly cleaned and oiled the movement and installed a new mineral crystal.
We have also installed a brand new crocodile strap making the watch ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. warranty on the movement and its function, a custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
